Who is eligible for a Fields of Sinsinawa Soul of the Soil Conference scholarship?
Current livestock, produce, and/or grain farmers who reside in the U.S. and are interested in learning about soil care practices and principles are eligible. In addition, conservation-minded students and professionals who work in or volunteer for agriculture-related or sustainability-oriented organizations are also eligible.
We encourage limited resource farmers, beginning farmers, veteran farmers, BIPOC farmers, and farmers belonging to other historically underserved or marginalized groups to apply for a scholarship. We also encourage students and people who work or volunteer within the realm of conservation agriculture to apply.
How to apply
Please fill out the conference scholarship application form below by September 15, 2024.
Note: The scholarship covers 100% of the $125 registration fee for the Sept. 23-24 Soul of the Soil Conference taking place in Galena, IL. The scholarship does not cover lodging or transportation. Three meals are included as part of the conference (evening meal on 9/23, breakfast and mid-day meal on 9/24). Scholarships are made in the form of a no-cost ticket. No funds will be paid to scholarship recipients.
Once we receive your application, we will review it for eligibility and notify you via email.
Please do not apply for a scholarship if you don’t actually plan to attend the conference. We are not offering an online option for attendance – the conference will be held in-person only.
How are decisions made?
Scholarships will be reviewed by a committee who will select recipients based on their responses to the application questions. We strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply. Selections will be made to enhance the diversity and inclusivity of perspectives at the conference. Applicants will be informed on Sept. 16 about the committee’s decision.
Expectations of scholarship recipients
Within 14 days of attending the event, scholarship recipients are expected to complete a short report form about their experience at the conference. Scholarship recipients are invited to share photos of their conference experience with Fields of Sinsinawa and on social media to promote their attendance. Scholarship recipients will also be added to the Fields of Sinsinawa email list.
